Centre Manager: John Davies

 

Appointed in November, 2001, John leads the team based at the centre. John’s background with the NFU has been instrumental in endorsing the links in the growing agri-food sector.

Senior Food Technologist: Angela Sawyer

 

Angela leads the technology team and has experience in working in the food industry for 18 years. She has specific confectionery, meat and ready meals product knowledge along with experience of quality systems, product development and training.

Food Technologist: Mark Horsman

 

Mark has been at the Food Centre for over 10 years, in which time he has gained a wealth of experience, contacts and knowledge of the Food Industry particularly in the Dairy Sector.

His role as Dairy Technologist means he responsible for the Food Centre's Dairy Unit but he is also responsible for the Centre's Renewable Energy projects and has lead the way in developing these technologies on site.

Mark's role as Dairy Technologist consists of working with new and existing dairy companies within the UK and assisting them in new product development, HACCP, application, troubleshooting and process development.

Particular areas of interest to Mark are yogurt, cheese & ice cream where he has channelled his efforts to establish a state of the art commercial production/trial facility.

Food Technologist: Kirsty Hughes

 

Kirsty has a broad range of experience working within the food industry for the past 13 years, since graduating from Manchester Metropolitan University with a BSc (hons) in Food Technology.

In her current role, Kirsty is the technologist responsible for prepared foods such as ready meals, sauces, baked goods and preserves. Kirsty has a keen interest in packaging and the legislation required for pre prepared foods.

Meat Technician: Pam Thompson

 
Pam joined FCW in March 2005. In 2000 she qualified with a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Biology to which she has added an HNC in Food Technology after deciding to follow a career in the food sector. She has specific analytical experience gained with the Public Analyst and since joining FCW has specialised in Meat Technology and Management of the licensed cutting plant.

Co-ordinator: Janet Jones

 

Janet joined the administrative team in April 2005 after working for the Health Authority in Carmarthen finance Department. Main duties include: overseeing Administration and Marketing, finance/budget work (purchase and sales ledgers), and the organisation of meetings/seminars held at Food Centre Wales

Food Technician: Rhian Jones

 

Rhian joined Food Centre Wales in October 2005.  In 2004 she qualified with a degree in Hospitality and Business Management, and spent the next year gaining experience working in the food service and catering sector.  Rhian is our food technician, and is also responsible for the first aid and the health and safety.
