Mid Wales Agri‑Food Business Park Expansion

Building the future of food manufacturing in Mid Wales

Mid Wales has long been home to ambitious food and drink businesses. This new expansion of the Agri‑Food Business Park in Llandysul is a major investment designed to help those businesses grow, innovate and thrive.

Bringing together a new Food Manufacturing Innovation Centre (FMIC) and a cluster of modern food‑grade manufacturing units, the development creates a single, connected site where production, innovation and collaboration sit side by side.

This is more than new buildings. It is a long‑term commitment to strengthening the food manufacturing economy of Mid Wales.

A shared vision for Mid Wales

The Agri‑Food Business Park expansion responds directly to growing demand from food and drink businesses for high quality, scalable manufacturing space.

By creating purpose‑built facilities and embedding innovation at the heart of the site, the project aims to:

  • Unlock business growth and productivity

  • Strengthen regional supply chains

  • Support new product development at scale

  • Attract investment into Mid Wales

  • Help businesses grow without leaving the region

The development is part of the Mid Wales Growth Deal portfolio, contributing to a wider regional vision for agriculture, food and drink alongside other major innovation projects.

Food‑grade manufacturing units

Five new manufacturing units designed specifically for food and drink production will be delivered by Ceredigion County Council.
These units are aimed at businesses that have outgrown incubation space and need room to scale, offering:
  • Increased production capacity
  • High quality, commercial facilities
  • Flexible layouts to support growth
  • A professional base that reflects long‑term ambition
This gives businesses the option to expand confidently within Mid Wales rather than relocating elsewhere to grow.

Food Manufacturing Innovation Centre (FMIC)

At the heart of the site will be the new Food Manufacturing Innovation Centre.
The FMIC is a state of the art pilot facility designed to support industrial‑scale innovation, allowing businesses to:
  • Develop and test new products without disrupting core production
  • Reduce risk and time to market
  • Improve productivity and efficiency
  • Access technical expertise and facilities on their doorstep
Locating manufacturing and innovation together is intentional. It creates an environment where ideas can move more quickly from concept to commercial production.

Being part of the Agri‑Food Business Park offers more than just space.
Businesses located on site will benefit from:
  • Direct access to innovation and piloting facilities
  • Opportunities for collaboration with neighbouring food businesses
  • A professional setting to host buyers, investors and partners
  • Strong links into the wider regional innovation ecosystem, including AberInnovation at Aberystwyth University
Few locations offer this level of integrated manufacturing and innovation capability on a single site.

This development may be the right next step if your food or drink business:
  • Has outgrown incubation or small‑scale facilities
  • Is increasing production or launching new product lines
  • Wants closer integration with research and development support
  • Is ready to commit to long‑term growth in Mid Wales
Demand for space is expected to be strong and early engagement is encouraged.

Built on a proven track record

This development builds on nearly three decades of food sector support delivered through Food Centre Wales in Llandysul.

Since 1996, Food Centre Wales has supported food and drink businesses across Mid and South West Wales with technical expertise, training and product development facilities. The new FMIC represents the next phase of this investment, introducing industrial‑scale capability to support the future growth of the sector.
